Lafayette is maintaining almost a constant rate of new Covid-19 cases/per week for a third week in a row (Please note: Last weeks data was corrected to exclude the older tests that were reported on May 21st, 2020). Louisiana entered Phase One in it roadmap of reopening the state on May 15th, 2020. Phase One will be effective for atleast 21 days and the state will make a decision on June 5th for the path forward.
As per Federal Guidelines (Opening up America Again) during Phase One, Individuals should avoid, when in public, in groups of more than 10 if appropriate distancing may not be practical and minimize non-essential travel. Employers are encouraged to continue telework, whenever possible and feasible with business operations.
Hopefully, with all your support in adhering to these Federal Guidelines for one more week, we can move forward to Phase Two. What to expect in Phase Two ? All individuals, WHEN IN PUBLIC (e.g., parks, outdoor recreation areas, shopping areas), should maximize physical distance from others. Social settings of more than 50 people, where appropriate distancing may not be practical, should be avoided unless precautionary measures are observed and non-essential travel can resume.
Lets see how Lafayette holds up till my next update on June 4th, 2020.
